Balmoral has produced some very fine cigars in the past few years. The Anejo XO Rothschild Masivo isn’t one of them. I expected bolder flavors, especially at the $10 price tag. Distinct flavors of fresh pipe tobacco and dark chocolate came through on the cold draw. The first third tasted of chocolate, like semi-sweet morsels. Later, anise (a little like licorice) appeared. The last half brought a mixture of chocolate and caramel notes. Retrohales delivered delicate black pepper flavors. This short cigar missed its mark. Maybe the other vitolas contain a more memorable experience.
