Small, boutique cigar producers fascinate me. These men and women pour themselves into their passions and dreams. Marcos Rodriguez, the founder of Capos Cigars MLR, is doing just that in his home country, the Dominican Republic. Tinges of tobacco and dried fruit escaped in the cold draw. A blend of spice mixed with retrohales carrying tons of black pepper. As the pepper dissipated, espresso bloomed, later relaxing to coffee and cream by the midpoint. The beginning final third presented the taste of a danish, a bit sweet and cakey, before transitioning to chocolate cake in the last dozen puffs.
