2021, according to the Chinese calendar, is the year of the ox. In line with its annual releases, Davidoff crafted an absolute masterpiece in the Year of the Ox gordo. The brand’s first 60 ring gauge cigar hit all the right notes. After an earthy cold draw, wood and earth mingled in the initial puffs. Then the Ox opened up, revealing complex cocoa and leather notes interspersed with cream and white chocolate. At the midpoint, mixed nuts debuted played off the cream. By the final third, the cream ebbed away, replaced by cocoa and a continued nuttiness.
