Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua declared their independence from the Spanish Empire in September of 1821. The Joya de Nicaragua Dos Cientos commemorates the two hundredth anniversary of that monumental event. The cold draw featured earth wrapped in caramel. A large helping of spices greeted me, followed by earth backed by toffee and walnuts. By the midpoint, sweet caramel and coffee formed a luscious macchiato. Coffee continued, inviting earth back for a rich finale. With only 2000 boxes making it to the U.S., grab one for now and one to age in your humidor.
