Honoring the 107th anniversary of the oldest cigar factory in the Dominican Republic, the La Aurora 107 Belicoso wears a surprisingly modest band featuring a lion and the number “107”. Once I snipped the pointed cap, I drew in nutty notes. The same nuts appeared in the first third, mixed with cedar and occasionally toast. At the midpoint, I picked up maple syrup, sweet with a hint of caramel. The caramel pushed the maple aside and dominated the final third. Subtle spices welcomed me on each retrohale. Despite a minor canoe, the La Aurora drew well.
