With a lineage that includes the 2015 CA cigar of the year, the My Father Le Bijou 1922 Churchill came with high expectations. This cigar met every one of them. Beginning with the oily, veiny maduro wrapper, the Le Bijou is constructed beautifully. The cold draw left a surprising sweetness on my palette. Once lit, I picked up rich chocolate notes, like a fudge brownie. This continued until near the end when the sweetness transitioned to spicy, a delightful change of pace. The entire stick drew well and it never required a retouch, though the burn was inconsistent, as you can see in the photo. This won’t be my cigar of the year, but it is an exceptional smoke.
