Cigar reviews – 99 words or less

Tim Wong from Espinosa Cigars created the boutique Pier 28 brand a few years ago. Unfortunately, I tasted a bitter, musty flavor on the cold draw. Dry grass and a lingering bitterness debuted in the first half inch. Thankfully, those flavors disappeared in favor of nougat and touches of vanilla. Towards the end, I picked up notes of pie crust and earth. The best flavors, fresh-baked bread and baking spice, emerged on the retrohales. The Connecticut wrapper blew out under the band and deteriorated as I smoked the final half. Bland flavors and poor construction hurt the ratings.
