Pier 28 was the brainchild of Tim Wong, a cigar sales representative for Espinosa and AJ Fernandez. He’s worked tirelessly to create a mature line of cigars from habano to maduro to the oscuro in this review. The Pier 28 Oscuro Perfecto measures 5.5×56 with a black, silver, and orange band. After a woody cold draw, I tasted earth and wood through the first third. Tobacco notes dominated the middle third, followed by an earthy finish. The perfecto’s tight draw opened nicely after the first quarter, but the flavors were simple and muted.
