Rocky Patel’s cigar empire controls vast stores of rare and aged tobaccos. He frequently picks some of the choicest leaves to create new and limited lines. In 2016, he created the ALR (aged, limited, & rare) Second Edition, then aged the sticks until 2019. The Mexican San Andres wrapper delivered a symphony of chocolate from beginning to end. It started with cocoa on the cold draw and extended into the first third. Some woody notes joined in, but they moved aside for more chocolate. A toffee profile picked up near the midpoint, retreating to leave a smattering of chocolate.
