Rocky Patel creates some fantastic cigars, and the Royale lived up to his reputation as one of the best in the industry. This well-constructed robusto presented oak on the cold draw. Notes of dried fruit and nuts consistently appeared from start to finish. The retrohales, filled with vanilla, honey, and a touch of black pepper, complimented the other flavors. Apart from one mild canoe that self-corrected, the Royale’s airflow stayed true. A couple of these sticks should spend some time aging in your humidor, allowing the flavors to mature.
