Rodriguez Cigars created the Primera Clase Rare Reserve with exclusive tobaccos aged for four years. The dark toothy Mexican San Andres wrapper looked beautiful in contrast to the navy and gold bands. Woody notes bowed on the cold draw. Deep notes of black cherry greeted me in the first third. Wood reappeared in the second third, planting itself until caramel pushed its way in for the final third. The caramel expanded to creamy butterscotch for a sweet and savory finish. I was disappointed in the straightforward and simplistic flavor profile. The aged tobacco should have impressed.
