Ashton produces great cigars, and its lines are broad enough to satisfy any smoker. The San Cristobal label added the Ovation limited edition series about six years ago. It features a San Andrés Oscuro wrapper that goes through a two-and-a-half-year triple fermentation. Impressive. Tinges of tea teased me on the cold draw. After a match-light, I tasted creamy caramel and hints of cedar. By the second third, oaky notes mixed with nuts held my attention. Those flavors faded in favor of cocoa, laced with spicy retrohales. A powerful yet balanced cigar.
